as in, the exact sensationalist, baiting yellow journalism that would whip white supremacists up into arms

every hate crime, threat, or even mistaken panic that comes out of this is the result of a mainstream media more interested in publishing childish slander against a group of university students than they were in the consequences, and they should be made to answer for that
